Give your beach condominium home a fresh, lively, bright, and cheerful appearance and an instant lift. Creating a new look for your home doesn’t have to involve endless of supplies. You don’t need to spend a whole lot of money either; this is more revitalizing than renovation. Effective use of color and textures in small doses can wake-up your home environment. You can shop for your handicraft and home decorating items in Chatuchak Weekend Market in Bangkok or almost any night bazaar in Thailand. Best of all, if you decided that these following simple ideas are not a love match for you, it is no big deal. Look at this as adding a breath of fresh air to your beach condominium and not as a long term interior decorating commitment.
- Bedroom: Make up your bed with crisp white linens and paired it with pillowcases in bold colors, old-fashion floral, rich textures, or mix patterns. Add a potted orchid which will keep its bloom for many weeks. Light scented candles to promote blissful response. Be sure to always place candles on fireproof saucers and never leave your lit candles unattended.
- Living room: To renew a sofa, you will need enough pillows that will overlap and large enough to cover to sofa back completely. For a quick burst of floral, toss in a couple of needle-point or embroider pillows with flower motif. Add a colorful rug. It is a nice way to introduce color to the room. It is a subtle approach because the color and pattern of the rug is not at your eye level. Lighting is extremely important for a room. Mix light fixtures such as standing lamps, table lamps, and recessed lighting. Put your money in lamp shades; the cost of lamp shade is influenced by the type of the fabric the shade is made from. Lamp shades are often a neglected decorative element in most room but colored lamp shades can make a bold impact. Best to limit the colors to one shade per room and select other lamp shades in neutral tone. Fresh flowers are the safest way to brighten a room with added colors without making a commitment. Find what you love and go all out. You will not go wrong.
- Kitchen: Add splashes of color with pretty porcelain dishes. Buy four or six richly colored plates, bowls, or cups to mix with your everyday china. Select embroidered linen napkins and placemats. Thai handicraft products use many interesting elements such as exotic mother-of-pearl for napkin rings or coconut wood with sterling silver trim items or horn spoons, all which can spice up any dining room table.
- Bathroom: Change bath accessories such as waste basket, soap pump dispenser, and tissue box. Don’t forget to splurge on handmade double or triple-milled soap in exotic scent to chase away the blahs. Pamper yourself and your mate with two new sets of thick, lush, fluffy, thirsty towels, hand towels, and washcloths. Infuse your bathroom with a new scented soap and lotion.
- Hallway: If your entry way is small, paint it with any pale color in the shade you like such as yellow, green, aqua or turquoise. All of these colors are pleasing and exciting to a room. Paint the trim in white to mellow out the overall effect. If you have no trim moldings, paint one wall in strong color such as red or cobalt blue. This technique will make the room appear bigger while adding style and depth. Find a standout artwork that incorporates your new color scheme and use it as your new focal point; both the artwork and the room will become even more festive and memorable. It will make a grand entrance.
